STANDING SHOW

From their early performances in the cozy atmosphere of Dièse Onze to the big stages of prestigious festivals on both sides of the Atlantic, The Brooks have carved out a reputation as a formidable groove machine. At the heart of this supergroup’s musical project, formed in the early 2010s, lies the joy of playing, true artistic freedom, and a strong sense of camaraderie. Electrifying both on record and on stage, The Brooks’ music is carried by bouncing rhythms, flamboyant brass, inventive keyboards, and mesmerizing guitar lines.

Navigating between funk, soul, R&B, Afrobeat, and jazz, The Brooks brings together bassist Alexandre Lapointe, veteran singer and trombonist Alan Prater, guitarist Philippe Look, and percussionist Philippe Beaudin, all virtuosos with impressive résumés. The band has released five albums, the most recent of which, Soon As I Can (2024), propels their grooves to new heights.

The Brooks is much more than the sum of its parts: it is a celebration of more than 50 years of evolution in African-American music, both respectful of its roots and firmly anchored in the present.
