Sustainable Tourism 2030 Pledge

The City of Bromont, through the Tourism Development Department, has signed the Sustainable Tourism 2030 Pledge, to demonstrate our commitment to improving our sustainability performance indicator by 2030.

The World Tourism Organization defines sustainable tourism as “tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment and host communities”.

Each year, we are committed to measuring and improving our sustainability performance in the following ways:

  • Analyze the impact of tourism on Bromont’s quality of life, infrastructures and greenhouse gases, and plan mitigation strategies to achieve a balance and reduce negative impacts;
  • Promote eco-responsible practices (e.g., events and local purchasing):
    • Adopt a policy and incentives to encourage zero-waste events and patronage for the development of environmental, economic, social and cultural projects;
  • Continue efforts to preserve natural environments:
    • Develop and implement a plan to acquire and preserve natural areas;

These actions are part of the commitments of the City of Bromont’s Sustainable Development Plan and its Strategic Planning.

Our tourism partners are, for the most part, committed to a sustainable approach. The vast majority take daily actions to minimize the impact of their organizations, and we are dedicated to encouraging them in this direction.
