The Bromont Ultra, to be held from October 17 to 19, is much more than a sporting challenge: it’s a powerful movement of solidarity. Through community engagement, mutual support, and the donations it raises, the event shines far beyond athletic performance. Renowned athletes distinguish themselves there every year, but it’s above all the impact for the supported causes that makes Bromont residents and the running and cycling communities proud.
In 2014, inspired by the famous American “100-mile” races, the BU160 made the Bromont Ultra the longest trail race in Quebec—a legendary distance that continues to capture the imagination. Beyond this marquee 160 km event, there’s a challenge for every level: from a 2 km youth race to 6, 12, 25, 55, and 80 km. Mountain bike events were added starting in 2016, with courses now ranging from 25 km to 120 km.
Trail running and mountain biking for the cause
In 2025, for the twelfth edition, no fewer than 21 causes will benefit from the funds raised. Since its inception, the Bromont Ultra has raised more than $4,000,000 in donations; the 2024 edition alone generated $800,000.
Participants, teams, and donors can choose to support a specific cause among these 21 selected, or give to the BU Effect (Effet BU), which supports all of the causes. The Bromont Ultra prioritizes organizations working in health, education, children, the environment, and sport, with a balanced mix of local, provincial, national, and international causes.
In Bromont, the three flagship causes—longstanding partners of the event—are the Centre d’action bénévole Marguerite-Dubois, the Fondation des sports adaptés, and the Centre national de cyclisme de Bromont. All selected causes get involved in the event by providing volunteers. The team at the Centre Marguerite-Dubois, for example, successfully prepares volunteer meals every year. This reciprocal involvement is highly beneficial for these organizations. From 2022 to 2024, a total of $268,034 was raised for these three Bromont organizations. These funds notably enabled the purchase and maintenance of numerous Dahü—wheelchairs specially designed for mountainous terrain—used by the Fondation des sports adaptés. You can even see teams pushing these Dahü and their passengers with limited mobility along the trails during the Bromont Ultra, a powerful symbol of inclusion and solidarity. The dollars raised also helped fund part of the construction of the Freestyle Zone at the Centre national de cyclisme de Bromont and support the mission of the Centre Marguerite-Dubois.
A Team Endeavour
For many companies, the Bromont Ultra is also a team-building activity that combines physical challenge and philanthropy. A great example is Eurovia, a construction company that has been participating since 2018. After an initial appearance with a single team, the desire to get more involved led, in 2022, to a major partnership. Year after year, the number of employees taking part in the team events keeps growing. For the 2025 edition, no fewer than ten teams—one hundred employees from across Quebec—will take part in the event. Each person takes on a personal challenge suited to their level, but beyond performance, team spirit, cohesion, and shared moments bond the teams throughout the year. In 2024, the company raised more than $35,000 in donations for the BU Effect. In total, since the start of its involvement, Eurovia has gathered $130,000 in donations and $100,000 in sponsorships—nearly a quarter of a million. The pride of investing together in a meaningful challenge is a powerful source of motivation for everyone.
If this speaks to you as a manager or business owner, assemble your team for 2026. It’s a concrete way to strengthen team cohesion, set motivating goals, and promote an active, healthy lifestyle. The Bromont Ultra team also aims to increase corporate participation and further develop this component in the future.
2025 goal: $900,000
In 2024, 3,000 participants took part in the events, and more than 400 volunteers helped ensure everything ran smoothly. For 2025, the goal is to raise $900,000. While the trail running races have been sold out for quite some time, there are usually spots left for the solo mountain bike events—provided you’re fit and trained enough to register at very short notice. You can also contribute by joining the volunteer team or making an online donation on the event website at bromontultra.com. In addition, a significant share of the event’s net proceeds is redistributed to the causes, amplifying the impact of the BU Effect.
A Green Bromont Ultra
Additionally, the Bromont Ultra deploys a robust environmental program: a green team and on-site sorting stations (no trash bins), water refill stations, and shuttles to limit single-occupancy vehicle use. Add to that the elimination of single-use plastics, compostable dishware and no cups at aid stations, vegetarian meal options, donation of surplus food to the Centre Marguerite-Dubois, priority given to local suppliers, and medals made from local or recycled wood. One more reason to be proud and to support the event.
Practical Information
To cheer on the runners at the start and finish, and to visit the exhibitors, simply park at P4, then take the free, continuous shuttle to P5 (the event’s base camp). Bromont residents are encouraged to walk or bike whenever possible. No vehicle access is permitted at the aid stations.
The Bromont Ultra is a celebration of pushing one’s limits and of generosity. Let’s congratulate in advance the participants, volunteers, and organizers who will make the 2025 edition a success the entire community can be proud of.
