Maxine Bergeron has helped hundreds of kids discover the joys of her favourite sport. For this experienced coach, fun happens through play, laughter, and self-confidence.
“Bromont has trails for all ages and levels; you just have to find the one that’s right for you,” says Bergeron. Bromont has several well-known practice sites and lots of coaching options: clubs, 100% Bike and Dirt Camps, courses, and more. “When you start with a good basis in a safe environment, for sure you’ll have fun.”
Try it out at the CNCB
Bromont’s National Cycling Centre – aka CNCB – is THE place to get started in most disciplines: mountain, BMX, trial, cyclo-cross, track, fatbike, road, gravel, and dirt jumping. A friendly and supervised learning environment in modern indoor and rental facilities open year-round.
“Even tots as young as two can do the bike games. Parents have a blast with their little ones and watch them progress. Some parents take lessons, too,” adds Bergeron. Come summer, activities head outdoors to the forest trails around the centre.
Test your learning at Mount Oak
“For young riders with a good basic position and sufficient brake control, Mount Oak is a great place to practice new skills on longer loops and varied terrain,” says Bergeron. “Especially at the Devinci Skills Area, which is just a few pedal strokes away from an ice cream shop, bakery, and restaurants. Bonus reward!”
Hone your skills at Bromont, montagne d’expériences
The long descents are ideal for a first family ride and the chair lift is an experience all in itself. “Before you take the chair, though, make sure you’re ready for the runs. If you’re comfortable on Mount Oak’s blue trails like Phooz, you’ll be ok on the green descents.” And take your time. “Descending is always a thrill, but go slowly and enjoy this time in nature together,” says Bergeron.
