ABOUT STARMANIA
Starmania was an instant success when it premiered in 1979, both in France and in Québec. The story is set in a futuristic world where Monopolis, the capital of the Western world, is terrorized by a group of rebels known as the Black Stars, led by Johnny Rockfort. Zéro Janvier, an ambitious businessman, aims to become president, while Marie-Jeanne, a waitress-automaton, quietly observes the unfolding events from her café.
Inspired by real-life events, Starmania helped launch the careers of many artists and is now considered a classic of French-Québécois musical theatre. Its timeless message continues to resonate with audiences around the world to this day.
