A runner’s paradise

“Bromont is a town that runs on nature. You feel this active spirit the moment you arrive. That’s what draws so many visitors here, especially runners.”

Josée Prévost, marathoner and co-owner of Maison de la Course, moved to the region in 2023 and is still finding new reasons to fall in love with the area.

So much so that she and her business partner Frédérick Viens chose Bromont for their third Maison de la Course location. Josée says it was the relaxed vibe that won them over. “It’s a great place to live, full of wonderful people and places to discover.”

It also helps that Bromont offers everything runners of all levels could ask for. “The options are endless from the gently rolling C1 hiking loop to the demanding 13.5 km La Coriace route, with 600 metres of elevation gain,” says Audrey Larroquette, President of the Club de trail de Bromont.

Josée’s Pick:

This nearly flat 5-km loop is an easily accessible route that’s perfect for an easy run or a relaxed walk, with plenty to take in along the way. In fact, it’s a great way to see Bromont from a whole new angle. Starting at the Maison de la Course, the route takes you through village gardens, with views of the Old-Bromont church steeple and the mountain as a backdrop. It then winds along the golf course near the Jardin des oiseaux and through a quiet residential neighbourhood before returning to historic Shefford Street.

Audrey’s pick:

This 5-km loop with 145 m of elevation gain is a favourite among local trail runners. Starting from the Pavillon d’accueil at Mount Oak, the route follows open, well-cleared trails for a fun, easy run. Along the way, there are many options for those who want to add extra kms or difficulty. For example, from the Steeple Chase trail near the Olympic Equestrian Park, you can connect to the C1 trail or to the Parc des Sommets mountain trail network.

Maison de la Course:

Maison de la Course store sits at the crossroads of several trail networks between Mount Shefford and Mount Brome. It’s more than just a retailer supporting Bromont’s active culture. It has quickly become a cherished resource for the local running community. Beginners and seasoned athletes alike come to discuss goals, training plans, injury prevention, and more with Josée and Frédérick, who are always ready to offer thoughtful, personalized advice. The store carries more than 200 shoe models and over 3,000 pairs in stock, along with a carefully curated selection of apparel and accessories.
