Québec is more than long winters. It’s also home to wines of exceptional quality, thanks to the innovative winemakers of the Eastern Townships, the birthplace of Québec viticulture and ice cider. Want to see and taste firsthand how local producers turn a demanding climate into bold reds, crisp whites, and world-celebrated ice wines? All you need to do is follow the Brome-Missisquoi Wine Route.
With 24 vineyards and nearly 90 partner stops, you set the pace. Go by car or by bike, and follow one of the ready-to-travel itineraries or plan your own using the interactive map at the QR code below.
“La lanterne rouge” is a 51-km cycling loop that winds along quiet country roads and a gravel cycling path, with sweeping views of Brome Lake. On hot days, Douglass Beach is the perfect place to cool off. Stop in Shefford at Vignoble La Belle Alliance, known for its field-to-bottle philosophy. Continue to Lac-Brome for Domaine ValBrome‘s dry wines and ciders, then Vignoble Courville for a diverse and well-loved selection. If you’d rather take it easy, electric bike rentals are available in the area.
Prefer travelling by car? “La virée” is a great two-day route. Start with the vineyards of the “La lanterne rouge” loop, then head toward Brigham and Cowansville. Vignoble du PicBois is young but already racking up awards. Vignoble Bromont pairs responsible farming with an on-site inn. Vignoble de la Bauge stands out for its regenerative practices and mineral white wines. Domaine du P’tit Bonheur, a family vineyard set in an enchanting landscape, offers a charming visit alpacas included. The Brome-Missisquoi Wine Route isn’t about rushing from stop to stop. It’s about tasting, talking, lingering.
