Le Roux Buvette & Caviste is no mere restaurant. Its stunning views of the mountain and Yamaska River make it a complete sensory experience. And that’s not all. See why this dining destination nestled at the entrance to Bromont is a must-visit for lovers of wine, cocktails, and local flavours.
Most of us associate the term “roux” with the well-known base used in cooking. Bilingual folks will also know that it’s the French word for redhead. In this case, it refers to the restaurant’s co-owner, Jean-Benoît Hinse. It was long-time friend and comedian Cathy Gauthier (also a shareholder in the venture) who jokingly suggested naming the restaurant “Le Roux” when the project first took shape.
“We all had a chuckle, but it stuck,” says co-owner Michel Bérubé. “Then came the little red fox as our logo and the orange touches in our restaurant décor and on our social networks.”
The goal of Le Roux is simple: Create a place where you always have a good time and leave with a smile, not just a full belly. “It’s a great place to enjoy an evening with friends,” says Bérubé. “Our customers aren’t the 3-am crowd, but they like to have fun.”
Petanque matches on the terrace, gardens, wine tastings, DJ Fridays, and more keep things spicy. “New customers often come just to eat, but end up dancing. Many of them return the following week with friends, and just keep coming back,” adds Bérubé. “It’s a great forty-something vibe with no judgment; just adults enjoying good food, good wine, and good music with friends.”
Dishes are meant to be shared and the selection of privately imported wines is exceptional. A sommelier is always on hand to recommend pairings and propose new discoveries tailored to your tastes.
For folks craving a night in, Le Roux offers a selection of bottles and local products in the boutique. “We also offer the only personal cellar service in the region to help wine lovers fill their cellar,” says Bérubé.
