Feeding Bromont, Women’s Way: Exceptional Women at the Root of Our Community

30 July 2025

In Bromont, local food, land stewardship, and entrepreneurship proudly take on a feminine face. Behind many of the businesses that nourish us every day stand passionate, resilient, and creative women—deeply rooted in their community.

Take Joany, for example, from Huilerie Arôme des Champs, who grows and transforms sunflowers into golden oil and delicious seeds in the shell. Coming from a family of farmers, her shop also offers organic flours and a variety of local products. Just a few kilometres away, Nadya from Les Brebis de Bromont crafts artisanal cheeses (feta, burduf, tomme, and Réserve du berger) and yogurt using both traditional and innovative methods.

Further south, Caroline of Domaine Muscadine—named Agricultural Woman of the Year in Montérégie Est—raises wapitis with care and dedication. Her farm is more than a production site: it’s a place of respect for nature and knowledge sharing. Her farm stand, open year-round, also offers bison and Highland beef, along with a variety of lovingly prepared products.

In the vegetable fields, Frédérique and Virginie from Ferme de la Colline du Chêne grow seasonal organic produce with great care, while Véronick and Nathalie from Jardins du Boisclair cultivate the land with heartfelt devotion. They’ve recently moved toward greater community sharing by partnering with SOS Dépannage Moisson Granby, offering veggie basket subscriptions that benefit the local food bank.

At La Canardière, Véronique transforms farm-raised duck into gourmet delicacies. And at Blumen, Mireille, Mélanie, and Émilie bring seasonal beauty into our lives with locally grown flowers that brighten our homes, markets, and events.

But these women’s influence extends beyond the fields. They bring life to our main streets, shape our culinary destinations, and shine through their one-of-a-kind shops.

Think of Véronique, creator of Atelier Véronique B and her charming clothing designs; Caroline of Maison Oléa who crafts artisanal soaps; Jessika and Catherine of La Belle Vieillerie who revive vintage treasures for our homes; Joliane of Ema Rose who carefully selects furniture and objects to bring charm into our homes; Saskia and Stéfanie of Ma Vie ma Maison who discover and share unique finds; Cathy who gives a second life to second-hand clothing at Minis & Mlle, Isabelle from Épicerie Futée who highlights healthy, local, bulk foods; Chantal of Crèmerie Oaké who delights us with frozen treats; Raphaëlle from Café 1792 and her warm, welcoming café; Amy and her wide variety of hot and cold teas at Bonthé; Janie from Désirables Gâteries, Mariane at L’Étrier Boutique Gourmande, and Chantal of Le Garde-Manger par VJV, who all spoil us with their sweet and savoury creations; and Anne-Marie from Jouets Toucan, who brings joy to young and old alike.

All of them contribute to a vibrant and resilient local economy, while encouraging more conscious consumption, anchored in the local landscape.

Bromont stands out as a nourishing ecosystem fuelled by boldness, expertise, and women’s solidarity. These women cultivate far more than food or products—they nurture connection, meaning, and vitality within our community.

So next time you bite into a farmstead cheese, stroll through a local shop, or fill your basket at the market, think of the women behind those experiences… and take a moment to thank them.
